"From my experience as a minister, and as a long-time student of
metaphysics, I also know the importance of 'ritualizing' any
practice in order to place one's conscious awareness more easily into
the state in which Spirit 'connects' with our awareness. This is not
to say that the ritual replaces the 'inner knowing' of a meditative
awareness, but only that the ritual places our conscious awareness in
sync with the 'inner knowing.' And so, my own 'ritual' for distant
healing consists of the following...
"I have obtained, for my use in this type of ritual, a glass bowl,
about the size and shape of a medium Brandy snifter, which has a
candle holder as its lid. (The original purpose of this bowl was
as an aromatic potpourri diffuser, in that the dried herbal
material goes into the bowl, and the candle flame in the lid
draws the aroma up and out of the bowl and into the room). This
bowl fits nicely into my hands (it is about the size of a small
grapefruit). I have 'charged' this bowl, using Usui 1-3-1
symbols, to serve as the repository for distant healing requests,
or in other words, to be the 'proxy holder' of the Usui Level II
technique.
"I further charged this bowl, again using the 1-3-1 symbols, to be
proxy for the 'planetary whole' (my inner visual of this is the
entire planet earth, with all 'life essence' as a system, which is then
shrunk down to the size of this bowl) and to which I give the
name, 'The Healing Globe.' Thus, my distant healing practice
always begins with a healing for the whole Earth and for all of her
manifestations.
"To begin my Healing Globe Reiki Session, I light the candle in
the lid of the bowl, and then "store" unlimited Reiki in the
flame using the 1-2-3-1 technique as taught by our own Light and
Adonea. I visualize the intent that while this flame burns a
continual flow of Reiki is supplied to the bowl, and to whatever
proxy it is holding. I then set the first proxy in place by
visualizing the 'whole Earth' image mentioned above... and by
following the Usui Level II techniques, using the 1-3-1 symbol
combination to place the 'proxy' of the whole earth onto this
bowl... and then I sit with 'the whole earth' for a while,
observing the Reiki flow...
"Later, I mentally request that all of the previous intentions
(see below for adding new intentions) which have been placed into
this bowl over time will continue to receive Reiki in this
session. I add the Usui -1- symbol over the bowl while holding this
request in mind. I also add an Usui -1- symbol over the bowl for
each intention that I am mentally carrying (those not actually written
down). This is my formula for 'stacking.' I then sit with the Healing Globe again, knowing that Reiki
flows to the Earth, and to all those on the Earth, and especially
to all those who have had their intentions placed into the bowl.
"For adding intentions, as the occasion may arise, I will write
the 'intention' of a distant healing request, be that a
name/age/place/condition combination, or a time-capsuled event,
or any other similar request format, on a small slip of paper.
Onto this paper, while visualizing the 'intention written upon
it,' I place the 1-3-1 set of Usui symbols, holding this thought
in mind for a moment to sense the Reiki flowing. Then, I place
this slip of paper into the Healing Globe with the added
intention that this slip will continue to serve as proxy for the
intention written upon it, and will receive Reiki each and every time
the Healing Globe receives Reiki. I seal this added intention with a
'storing' 1-2-3-1 symbol combination, and continue to hold the Healing
Globe in both hand and mind while I meditate... applying Reiki to
the bowl for the duration.
"After my morning ritual, (and only if I am actually going to be
nearby to attend to the flame), instead of snuffing out the flame
to end the session, I will often add some non-Usui symbols
(specifically the Sea-Breeze, the Ankh, and the Cyclone of Light)
and then state that it is my intention that as long as the flame
continues to burn Reiki should continue to flow into the bowl,
and to all the associated stacked intentions. Then I go about my
other activities for the day. In all cases, the actual ending of
the session, whether that be in the morning or later in the day,
occurs with the actual snuffing out of the flame, during which I
ritualize the 'thankfulness' of the moment, by thanking Reiki for
honoring my requests in this ritual.
"I offer all of this, not to be teaching a particular procedure,
but to suggest to those looking for a focal point that in order
to focus one's awareness for distant healing, one must create a
'comfortable image' on which to focus... This one is comfortable
to me.. perhaps others may also find comfort in it, or, at least,
they may be inspired by it enough to create their own 'focal point.'
"Bright Blessings..."
