PHP programming was used to make the questiionnaire work. It provides some error checking, directs the user through the proper sequence of questions (based on user input), works with a MySQL database to aggregate data anonymously for later research, and converts the questionnaire results into a high quality PDF document that can be printed by the user.
Many types of custom web-based programs have been developed for this national political organization, but the showcase piece is a custom Content Management System (CMS). This software allows people with minimal technical skills to enter and edit articles in the various sections of the web site through a password protected online administrative area. Both text and images can be easily managed, links are automatically generated, and the home page contents are also easily managed. Because the software is administratively protected, all you can see are the results--the web site's content.
Software for PDA was also developed to conduct a national Presidential candidate preference poll. The software was written to carefully limit PDA's members to a single vote each in the poll, thus ensuring more accuracy and validity in the results than most online polling techniques.
Modular content design allows for efficient, cost-effective site maintenance for this elegant day spa's web site. Each page is built using PHP to assemble page header, navigation, subnavigation within each section, page footer, etc. When something needs to be updated throughout the site (the copyright date, for example, or adding a new section to the navigation links), only a single file needs to be changed. The changes flow through to the rest of the site pages automatically and instantly.
